Privacy Policy
Effective 8 August 2026
This site, rjhalbert.com, is operated by Eald Talu House, an imprint of Novus Press Works. R.J. Halbert is the pen name of Jason and Rhonda Halbert.
This page explains what we collect when you visit, what we do with it, and how to tell us to stop.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Your email address, if you join the reader list or download a free chapter.
- Your name, shipping address, and order details, if you buy a book directly from us.
- Whatever you write to us, if you use a contact or booking form.
We never see or store your full card number. Payment details go directly to our checkout provider.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we record technical information as you browse — your approximate location, browser and device type, which pages you viewed, and how you arrived. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
The services we use
We do not run any of this ourselves. These companies process data on our behalf, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Squarespace — hosts the site and handles part of the store.
- Snipcart — runs the direct checkout and processes payment.
- Flodesk — stores the reader email list and sends our newsletters.
- Google Analytics — tells us how many people visit and which pages they read.
- Meta Pixel — measures whether our Facebook and Instagram advertising works.
What we use it for
- Fulfilling and shipping orders you place.
- Sending the newsletter and free-chapter emails you asked for.
- Understanding which pages and books readers actually care about.
- Measuring and improving our advertising.
- Answering you when you write to us.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed above, and only so they can do the job we hired them for.
You only receive email from us if you asked for it. Every message we send carries an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately. You can also write to us and we will remove you by hand.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Some are necessary for the site and the shopping cart to function. Others — analytics and advertising — are optional, and you choose when the cookie banner appears on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights over your data
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it.
- Send you a copy in a portable format.
- Stop using it for marketing.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, these are your rights under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. If you are in California, they are your rights under the CCPA/CPRA, which also gives you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do neither. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email admin@novuspressworks.com. We may need to confirm who you are before we act, so that nobody else can make a request in your name.
How long we keep things
Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Analytics data expires on the schedule set by the services above.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change it, the effective date at the top of this page changes with it.
